General Patent Corporation Owner Poltorak Suggests Improvements To Patent System

In a blog post on Patent Connections that was also cross-posted on the Gametime IP blog (General Patent Corporation Owner Poltorak Suggests Improvements To Patent System, March 31, 2011), GPC's Alex Poltorak offers insight into the multi-tier patent system he has suggested in past interviews and editorials.

"In essence," writes the blogger, "Poltorak identifies the fact that an improved can opener receives essentially the same patent protection as a cure for cancer as one of the problems with the current patent system. So far as I am aware, no one so far has suggested that the United States adopt a 'utility model' system, such as the ones that are common in Asian countries."

The blog post quoted a recent Washington Post article, ("Q&A: Small inventors raise patent overhaul concerns", March 28, 2011), for which Dr. Poltorak was interviewed.
