January 7, 2013 - A federal judge has dismissed a patent infringement suit concerning mobile, folding cafeteria tables.
SICO Inc., a manufacturer of portable folding furniture, was sued in April 2011 by its competitor AmTab Manufacturing Corp. for allegedly infringing U.S. Patent No. 7,758,113. The patent at suit relates to a seat post and support mount design used in folding cafeteria tables.
SICO announced today that the case was dismissed by the Federal District Court for the Northern District of Illinois because the SICO products were found not to infringe AmTab's patent.
"We are very pleased with the Court's final order," said Ken Steinbauer, SICO's Executive Vice President, in a press release. "This litigation has been time consuming, but we aggressively defended it because we always believed in the propriety of our designs and that we would ultimately prevail."
