Specialized Websites

We offer subdomains that specifically address the needs and interests of inventors, business owners and executives, university tech transfer and IP executives, and attorneys.

Patent Brokerage

If you are interesting in selling a patent or patent portfolio, or finding licensees for your patent, or acquiring additional patents or other forms of IP, General Patent’s patent broker affiliate, IPOfferings, can help you acquire, license and/or sell patent(s).

White papers and articles

Here we’ve included a number of white papers and published articles that will help the beginner learn more about intellectual property law, infringement, and enforcement.

For example, if you know you need some sort of intellectual property protection, but you’re confused about whether you should file for a patent, a copyright or a trademark, you may wish to begin with “The Basics of Intellectual Property,” a white paper that explains the various types of intellectual property and the rights they confer.

On the other hand, if you already know that you need a patent and would like to learn how to file for one, this section also contains a Patent FAQ, which explains (very briefly) how to patent an invention.

Books on Intellectual Property

If you’re seeking a more in-depth discussion of all aspects of intellectual property rights, infringement and enforcement, our IP publications, Essentials of Intellectual Property and Essentials of Licensing Intellectual Property, may be just what you need. This page gives you more information about our books and how to purchase them.

If you’d like to receive regular information about intellectual property law, such as tips for protecting your trade secrets and updates on patent infringement cases, please visit our newsletter main page to sign up to receive our monthly mailing, "Wealth of Ideas".
