December 9, 2013 - In the course of its two patent lawsuits with Samsung over the design of the iPhone, Apple expects to pay over $60 million to its outside counsel, Morrison & Foerster.

Apple has requested that the judge order Samsung to pay about a third of that amount, or $15.7 million, toward those estimated legal expenses because the lawsuit with Samsung is "an exceptional case" and Apple "should not be forced to bear the full expense of prosecuting its claims."

Apple is only seeking a third of the fees to ensure that it will not recover fees "for its unsuccessful claims concerning the unregistered combination iPhone trade dress or for tablet design," according to Apple's filing.
