General Patent Corporation Signs a Licensing Deal with Tokyo Electron

SUFFERN, N.Y., June 8, 1999 - General Patent Corporation (GPC) has entered into a license agreement with Tokyo Electron Ltd. with respect to GPC's Connector Interface Patent. This basic "smart connector" patent (U.S. Patent No. 4,603,320) broadly covers electronic connectors with embedded intelligence including certain computer communications devices in PCMCIA form-factor.

"So far, we have licensed our patents to many manufacturers in the US," said Alexander Poltorak, GPC's Chairman and CEO. "We are pleased to welcome Tokyo Electron, a Japanese company, as our first overseas licensee."

General Patent Corporation Settles Patent Suit with Motorola

SUFFERN, N.Y., January 19, 1999 - General Patent Corporation (GPC) has reached an out-of-court settlement with Motorola, Inc. in a patent infringement suit brought by GPC in January 1998 to enforce four of GPC's patents which cover specific aspects of PCMCIA devices, PC card modems and other computer communications devices.

(Thousand Oaks, Cal.) in a patent infringement suit brought by GPC against seven leading modem manufacturers in May 1997 to enforce four of GPC's patents which cover specific aspects of PCMCIA devices, PC card modems and other computer communications devices.

General Patent Corporation Settles Patent Suit with New Media

MONSEY, N.Y., September 14, 1998 - General Patent Corporation (GPC) has reached an out-of-court settlement with New Media Corporation (Irvine, Cal.) in a patent infringement suit brought by GPC against seven leading modem manufacturers in May 1997 to enforce four of GPC's patents which cover specific aspects of PCMCIA devices, PC card modems and other computer communications devices.

As part of the settlement, GPC obtained an equity stake in New Media. Licensing terms also include ongoing royalties.

General Patent Corporation Sues Smart Modular Technologies, Inc. for Patent Infringement

MONSEY, N.Y., May 12, 1998 - General Patent Corporation (GPC) has filed patent infringement lawsuit against Smart Modular Technologies, Inc., Fremont, CA, to enforce four of GPC's patents which cover specific aspects of PCMCIA devices, PC card modems and other computer communications devices.

The patents include U.S. Patent Nos. 4,543,450 ("Integrated Connector and Modem"), U.S. Patent Nos. 4,603,320 ("Connector Interface"), 4,686,506 ("Multiple Connector Interface") and 4,972,470 ("Programmable Connector").

General Patent Corporation Licenses Acticon Patents to Zoom Telephonics

MONSEY, N.Y., March 17, 1998 - General Patent Corporation (GPC) has entered into a license agreement with Zoom Telephonics, Inc. (ZOOM - NASDAQ) with respect to four of GPC's patents. The patents cover specific aspects of PC card modems and other computer communications devices.

Under the terms of the agreement, Zoom Telephonics agreed to license GPC's patents in exchange for royalty payments. Zoom also agreed to compensate GPC for the past sales of PC Card modems that used GPC's technology.

General Patent Corporation Settles Patent Suit with Boca Research

MONSEY, N.Y., February 17, 1998 - General Patent Corporation (GPC) has reached an out-of-court settlement with Boca Research, Inc. in a patent infringement suit brought by GPC against seven modem manufacturers in May 1997 to enforce four of GPC's patents which cover specific aspects of PCMCIA devices, PC card modems and other computer communications devices. Under the settlement Agreement Boca Research agreed to license GPC's patents.

MONSEY, N.Y., November 4, 1997 - General Patent Corporation (GPC) has reached a settlement with GVC Technologies, dba Maxtech Corp., of Cerritos, California and Archtek America Corp. of City of Industry, California in a patent infringement suit brought by GPC in May 1997 against seven leading modem manufacturers. The suit was brought to enforce four of GPC's patents which cover specific aspects of PCMCIA devices, PC card modems and other computer communications devices. As part of the settlement, Maxtech and Archtek agreed to license GPC's patents. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

General Patent Corporation Settles Patent Suit with IBM

MONSEY, N.Y., August 26, 1997 - General Patent Corporation (GPC) has reached an out-of-court settlement with IBM Corporation in a patent infringement suit brought by GPC against IBM in March 1997 to enforce four of GPC's patents which cover specific aspects of PCMCIA devices, PC card modems and other computer communications devices. Terms of the settlement were not disclosed.
