General Patent Corporation Licenses Acticon Patents to Matsushita

March 25, 2003 - Acticon Technologies LLC (Acticon) has recently licensed its four "smart connector" patents to Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. (NYSE:MC), a worldwide conglomerate headquartered in Osaka, Japan which markets under the brand name Panasonic. General Patent Corporation (GPC), a leading patent licensing and enforcement firm headquartered in Suffern, New York, represented Acticon in this transaction. "We are pleased to extend a license under the Acticon patents to Matsushita, a premier worldwide electronics manufacturer," said Alexander Poltorak, GPC's chairman and CEO. "Acticon's 'smart connector' technology now has 65 licensees," he added.

Acticon's "smart connector" patents cover specific aspects of PC cards and other "smart" connector devices used in mobile computer communication, networking, and instrumentation control. More than 90% of the PC cards sold in the United States today are licensed under the Acticon patents, and GPC has successfully represented Acticon in 17 litigations related to these patents.
