March 6, 2003 - SUFFERN, NY -- Acticon Technologies LLC (Acticon) has recently licensed its four "smart connector" patents to Abocom Systems, Inc. of Taiwan, a manufacturer of PC Cards, and several other companies. General Patent Corporation (GPC), a leading patent licensing and enforcement firm headquartered in Suffern, New York, represented Acticon in these transactions.
"We are pleased to extend a license under the Acticon patents to Abocom and others," said Alexander Poltorak, GPC's chairman and CEO. "Acticon's award-winning 'smart connector' technology now has over 60 licensees, which cover over 90% of PC cards sold in the US, and we are very happy that we have been able to mount such a successful licensing campaign," he added.
Other companies that have recently licensed the Acticon patents include Koutech Systems, Inc. of California, a subsidiary of Kouwell Electronics Corporation of Taiwan, a manufacturer of specialized hi-speed computer interface cards; Softing North America, Inc. of Massachusetts, a subsidiary of Softing AG of Germany, an international supplier of control and communication technology; Digigram, Inc. of Virginia, a subsidiary of Digigram SA of France (Paris stock exchange - Euroclear: 3578), a manufacturer of, among other things, PCMCIA form factor sound cards; Acces I/O Products, Inc., a California vendor of data acquisition products; Hitools Inc. of California, a subsidiary of Hitex Development Tools of Germany, a designer of PCMCIA form factor interface cards; Apricorn, Inc., a California vendor of PC Cards; and Jo-Dan International, Inc., a Michigan manufacturer of USB "smart" connectors.

Acticon's "smart connector" patents cover specific aspects of PC cards and other "smart" connector devices used in mobile computer communication, networking, and instrumentation control. More than 90% of the PC cards sold in the United States today are licensed under the Acticon patents. GPC has successfully represented Acticon in over 60 licensing transactions and 17 litigations.
