GPC Successful in its 23rd Litigation to Enforce Acticon's Patents

Acticon Technologies Settles Patent Infringement Suit with Startech.com, and Licenses Its "Programmable Connector" Patent to Several Other Companies

SUFFERN, NY, March 7, 2006 - General Patent Corporation (GPC), a leading patent licensing and enforcement firm, has scored another victory in its campaign to enforce a portfolio of "smart connector" patents owned by its subsidiary, Acticon Technologies LLC (Acticon). GPC announced today that Acticon has recently settled its lawsuit against Startech.com, its 23rd successful litigation to enforce these patents.

Acticon brought suit against Startech.com Ltd. of Ontario, Canada and Startech.com USA, LLP of Groveport, Ohio in September of 2005, in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. Startech.com ultimately agreed to pay past damages on all three patents-in-suit, and to take a license under the "Programmable Connector" patent.

"We will continue to vigorously enforce the intellectual property rights of Acticon Technologies," said Paul Lerner, Sr. Vice President and General Counsel of Acticon's parent, GPC.

Acticon's "smart connector" patents cover specific aspects of PC cards and other "smart connector" devices used in mobile computer communication, networking, and instrumentation control. GPC has successfully represented Acticon in 23 litigations and over one hundred and thirty licensing negotiations related to these patents.

In addition, the following companies have recently licensed Acticon's "Programmable Connector" patent: Evertek Computer Corp. of Oceanside, CA; Synthax, Inc. of Boardman, OH; PPA, Inc. of City of Industry, CA; Village Tronic of Hildesheim, Germany; ACRA Control of Dublin, Ireland; Avermedia Technologies of Taiwan; and Aten International Co. of Taiwan.
